To earn the PHR certification, candidates must meet the following prerequisites based on their education and professional HR experience. The eligible criteria is as follows:
- Minimum of one year of experience in a professional-level HR position and have a master’s degree or higher and
- At least two years of experience in a professional-level HR position and have a bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of four years of experience in a professional-level HR position
Once you pass the exam, your PHR certification remains valid for 3 years. To maintain PHR credentials, you need to earn 60 HR recertification credits during that period. Alternatively, you can choose to retake the exam.
